Barcelona Graduate School of Mathematics (BGSMath)

BGSMath Maria de Maeztu Unit of Excellence is a joint initiative of researchers in all areas of core and applied mathematics working at the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Catalan Polytechnic University (UPC) and the Centre for Mathematical Research (CRM). Its primary objective is to provide doctoral and postdoctoral training at the highest level in an international environment.

The María de Maeztu distinction has increased the BGSMath capacity to attract international talent. We have launched top-level doctoral and postdoctoral programmes, attracting about 40 world-class mathematicians from 12 different countries. The ability to set up international, stronger and more diverse research team has been key for us to obtain 2 ERC Starting Grants, and 3 ERC Consolidator Grants.
