Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ)
ICIQ is a leading institution in the field of chemistry committed to performing research at the frontiers of knowledge. Our goal is to improve quality of life through chemical research.
The institute has 17 different research groups working on catalysis (developing more efficient chemical processes), CO2 capture (using atmospheric CO2 to produce value added products like plastics or drugs), renewable energy (artificial photosynthesis, solar cells, biofuels) and computational chemistry (computational simulation of chemical phenomena).
ICIQ is also committed to knowledge and technology transfer of ICIQ’s research results to the chemical, pharmaceutical and energy industries; preparing the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality training to master and PhD students and postdoctoral researchers; and engaging youngsters in pursuing chemistry studies.
ICIQ is a CERCA center and one of the founding members of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST).
Key Facts ICIQ
The Severo Ochoa Grant enables ICIQ to boost its cutting-edge research in the fields of chemistry, energy, and sustainability, and thus contribute to a circular economy. It also allows us to strengthen our science education activities and continue our Starting Career, PhD and Postdoctoral fellowship programs.
