PhD fellowships within the Framework of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation Doctoral INPhINIT

The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC) announces the opportunity to apply for PhD fellowships within the Framework of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation Doctoral INPhINIT – Incoming.

In Spain, the program seeks to attract the best young researchers willing to pursue PhD studies in STEM disciplines at research centers accredited with the Spanish Seal of Excellence Severo Ochoa, Maria de Maeztu or Health Institute Carlos III. The INPhINIT fellowships offer a highly competitive salary and complementary training opportunities making these fellowships some of the most attractive and complete in Europe.

ICE is formed by around 120 members, and it pertains to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public institution dedicated to research in Spain and the third-largest in Europe. ICE-CSIC is accredited with the Spanish Seal of Excellence Maria de Maeztu and currently offers the following projects within the INPhINIT program:

Active black holes in dwarf galaxies.

Auroral emission from exoplanets.

Cosmology from the early and late Universe: using type Ia supernovae and weak gravitational lensing to understand dark energy and the theory of gravity.

Deep structure of exoplanet host stars with 3D-models and next generation of astronomical facilities.

Early stages in planetary accretion from the study of chondritic, and achondritic meteorites.

Finding another Earth: algorithmic and machine learning approaches to address stellar noise in exoplanet searches.

Matter in the extreme Universe.

Nova explosions in X- and gamma-rays: models and observations.

Scattering of Gravitational Waves by Black Holes and other compact objects.
